π About Agar.io
Agar.io is the 2015 io hit by Matheus Valadares, later published by Miniclip. You control a cell, eat pellets and smaller players, and try not to get absorbed.
Movement follows the mouse. Space splits, W ejects mass. The map is a petri dish with viruses (green spikes) that pop large cells. Teams and experimental modes exist on official servers; portal copies vary in quality. Agar.io defined a whole genre of grow-and-hunt browser games.
Agar.io's rules are small and sharp:
- Eat pellets and smaller cells to grow
- Split (Space) to catch prey; eject mass with W
- Viruses that split oversized cells
- Live multiplayer on official-style arenas (needs internet)
Slither.io is the snake cousin. Agar.io is blobs. Do not confuse either with a single-player campaign.
How to Play Agar.io
Move with the mouse. Eat dots. Swallow cells smaller than you; flee from larger ones. Split with Space to reach a fleeing player, then regroup. Feed a virus with W if you are hunting someone hiding behind it. Stay off the edge when you are huge.
β Agar.io FAQ
Is Agar.io free?
Yes. Agar.io is free to play. Skins and XP exist on official Miniclip Agar.io, but you can enter a dish without paying.
Can I play Agar.io on mobile?
Yes. Official Agar.io apps exist, and the browser game can run on phones. A mouse is still nicer for fine splits.
Do I need to download Agar.io?
No for the web version. Miniclip also ships Agar.io on iOS and Android if you want the store client.
How do you split in Agar.io?
In Agar.io, press Space to split toward the cursor. Use it to catch smaller cells or to feed a teammate. Reckless splits in a crowded Agar.io server get you eaten.
Is Agar.io multiplayer?
Yes. Agar.io is an online arena. You are playing against other cells, not a campaign AI (except in some offline clones).
What is a basic Agar.io survival tip?
In Agar.io, do not hunt at the map border when you are big. Players hide in corners and split from fog. Farm pellets until you can threaten, then take fights you start.
Agar.io vs Slither.io?
Agar.io is cell eating with split/eject. Slither.io is a snake that kills by hitting another head with your body. Same io era, different physics.
Is Agar.io okay for kids?
Agar.io is abstract blobs. Content is fine for kids. Public nicknames in official Agar.io chat/names can still be rude, so watch that.
Can I play Agar.io offline?
Real Agar.io needs a server. Offline clones exist but they are not the same as the live Agar.io dish.
Who created Agar.io?
Matheus Valadares created Agar.io in 2015. Miniclip later published and operates the official game.
